ALL TYPICAL BASKETBALL RULES AND SCORING APPLY UNLESS STATED DIFFERENT BELOW
- Divisions will consist of Over 40 Co-ed, Co-ed Adult under 40, High School Co-ed, Junior High Co-ed.
- Price per team will be $30.
- Over 40, Adult, High School and Junior High games will play to a score of 12, win by 2.
- There is an 8 team per division limit.
- Rosters are limited to 4 players. The only exception is if on the day of the tournament, a
player isn’t available, that player can be substituted before the first game that team plays
begins.
- Games will be set up at random, but teams will be guaranteed at least 2 games with a
winner’s and loser’s bracket.
- Over 40, Adult under 40, and High School will play in the morning beginning at 8:30 am on
May 24th.
- Junior High will play in the afternoon starting approximately at 1:00 pm on May 24th.
- If playing in the Over 40 Bracket all players need to be in that age bracket. If one player is
older for the kids, that team will move into the older division.
- All dead balls will be checked at the top of the key behind the 3 point line.
- All dead balls must be thrown in to a teammate (ball cannot be dribbled in play).
- Once checked, the offensive player will have 5 seconds to throw the ball in.
- Offensive players are not permitted to catch the inbound pass behind the inbounding
teammate.
- All defensive rebounds, turnovers, or any change of possession must be taken back
behind the three-point line. Both feet must be established behind the 3-point line to be
considered a legal clearing of the ball
- Teams are given (2) 30-second timeouts per game.
- Substitutions can only be made during dead ball situations.
- When free throws are awarded, the team not shooting the free throws will take possession
of the ball after the free throws are shot (we will not line up around the key and rebound
missed free throws).
- A team can start and finish a game with only two players if need be.
- All fouls will be called by an official.
Tim J.D. McCoy was born in Oak Hill on May 4th, 1951, to Wylodine and Claire McCoy, Jr. Tim has an older brother Larry and a younger brother Shane.
Tim attended elementary school at South Building and later Central Elementary School. He then attended Oak Hill High School, where he played football and basketball, later concentrating on basketball. He graduated with the honor of MVP for the Oaks in 1969.
Tim attended Rio Grande College where he met Ruth McNerlin. They were both majoring in Elementary Education. They began studying g together, which led to their first date on May 5th, 1978. They became engaged on August 25, and married on December 1sr of the same year, a marriage that lasted 41 years.
Their marriage produced two sons. JD was born on July 23, 1980, and Tim, who was born on May 10th, 1982. Tim was a wonderful father and was extremely proud of his sons.
Tim started working for the Oak Hill Union Local School District in the fall of 1978. He resigned from a position that he held on the Oak Hill school board to accept the position of jr. high math teacher, a position that he held for 24 years. He loved teaching math and working with the students of Oak Hill.
While employed as a teacher, Tim coached many sports.He coached jr. high and varsity girls volleyball and basketball, winning many championships. He also coached 7th grade boys basketball and junior varsity boys basketball. He also coached the first championship S.O.C. boys track team. He always found working with the Oak Hill athletes very rewarding.
Tim also started the Biddy League program in Oak Hill, where he coached. He also coached boys pony league baseball.
Tim received his Master’s Degree from the University of Dayton, majoring in administration. He was employed for the position of athletic director, assistant high school principal, and Oak Hill High School principal. While principal, Tim was extremely instrumental in the building and development of the Oak Hill High School sports complex, a project of which he was very proud. Tim retired from Oak Hill schools in 2009, after 31 years of service.
After retiring, Tim was voted to the position of Oak Hill Village Council, a position he held until his death. While on the council, he worked on many projects. He spearheaded a committee which purchased the new Christmas lights for the village.
Tim passed away on May 25th, 2019, from pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.
In May of 2019, right before his death,he was inducted into the Oak Hill Union Local Schools Hall of Honor. This award was an achievement of which he was extremely proud and was so happy that he lived to see his plaque.
Tim was a wonderful man. He was a loving husband and a very caring father. He is greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. He will always be loved and remembered by all.
Tim loved Oak Hill and the people who live there. He loved serving his community and was very proud to call Oak Hill his hometown.
